The wall light is sold without a bulb so like that it will work for any international electrical system. You can see on the pictures that we just put a hook on the wall. Handmade : Variation is to be expected, each piece differs in color, size, shape and decorations due to its handmade nature and natural pigments. memòri is about simplicity, imperfections, and embracing the "flaws". Each piece is fired in an open fire - a dug hole during more than 12 hours, which makes unexpected and surprising results, including smoke marks on some pieces. This means that each piece is one of a kind and cannot be duplicated. Care instructions: The ceramics are not glazed. We advise you to keep it as a decorative object if you want to conserve the original aspect. About the savoir-faire, the modeled pottery The potters of northern Morocco perpetuate the ancient art of modeled pottery, which first appeared around 6,000 BC. The techniques and patterns used today are very close to those of their origins. This ancestral know-how, which has disappeared around the Mediterranean, still lives in the pre-Rif. Today, these potters are the guardians of this ancient art. The modeled pottery according to the ancestral art of primitive firing depends on the weather, the women potters make their pieces and then fire them in an open fire for more than 12 hours. Depending on the tribe, the potter prepares an open fire or a dug hole - a pit oven -, and covers it with wood and shavings. It requires a slow combustion below 1000 degrees Celsius. At each step of the process, the materials used are natural and come from the potter’s surroundings; the clay and grog dug from the earth, mineral pigments for painting . The primitive firing technique leads to unpredictable and unexpectedly beautiful results, including the appearance of fire marks on certain parts. About the artisan Houda started working as a potter in order to help her parents who just bought land. Her two sisters assist her in her job, helping her pick up clay in the mountains and cow dung to prepare the fuel for the in-ground kiln. She likes to mix tradition and modernity, combining the motives of her tribe with new shapes and designs.
