Enchanting antique sculpture of a girl on the stairs holding a light, by Umberto Stiaccini, Florence circa 1910.
This beautiful and truly elegant, sculptural table or desk lamp is another one of our recent great finds. On the front is a brass plaque that reads BUONA NOTTE which is Italian for GOOD NIGHT and that ofcourse perfectly summarizes what this sculpture is about. The beautiful and clearly happy young girl is walking down the stairs whilst carefully making sure that the flame of the candle she is holding does not go out. It takes one very skilled and seasoned artisan to create such a natural, marvelous and realistic girl sculpture out of a material like alabaster. We were therefor not surprised to find a signature on this finest quality workmanship antique. This impressive work or art is signed on the back and the artist is well known for creating some of the finest sculptures in early twentieth century Italy. Apart from the missing fingers on her left hand, this one of a kind sculpture from the Italian Arts and Crafts era is in superb condition. This stylish antique is a wonderful eye-catcher in the daytime and in the evenings, with the light on, it becomes even more remarkable. Mind you, this sculptural lamp will arrive wired to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage in the country where she will go to. When purchased by an American client we will also attach an American power plug.
