A unique and sculptural Italian 1970s table lamp in chrome with custom shade. The base consists of a wide cut out "S" shape band of chrome wrapped around two balls stacked one on top of the other on a central rod. All resting on a round chrome base. A statement piece of Italian modern design, circa 1970. This table lamp is a sculpture in glass, metal and light in table lamp form. The large shade is handblown Murano glass in pale grey. It rests securely atop a charcoal grey black textured enamel metal column and has a large polished chrome dish cover with hole. A beautiful example of Italian modern design from the 1970s. This adjustable desk lamp was designed by D. C. Arnoldi for Italian lighting company Luci illuminaznione d'interni, circa 1970. The company was founded in 1966 and quickly became known for their original and innovative designs of modern lighting. Luci has an impressive list of Italian designs who have worked for the company. In 1989, the company renamed itself LuciItalia and continued its identity as a producer of high quality and decorative modern design lighting. Here we have an example of an earlier Luci piece form the 1970s. It features an exterior chocolate brown enamel shade and screw on table mount. The interior of the shade is off white enamel and has a chrome socket cover over the standard socket.
