Monumental Futuristic Space Age table lamp Model D2095 by Finnish female designer Nanny Still Brushed Aluminum rings with Artisan colored glass inset pieces and a stainless steel shade Nanny Still (1926-2009) was a well-known Female Finnish glass designer. She studied at Finland's Central School of Arts and Crafts and graduated in 1950. She worked as a glass designer for Riihimäki Glassworks, Finland’s largest glassworks at the time, for almost 30 years, creating a variety of stylish and decorative glass objects and lamps that are collectors items. She was one of Finland's most colourful designers For Raak Lighting Company she designed various models of lamps and was one of their top designers in the late 1960s and early 1970s Photo 4 shows a graceful young Nanny Still at the independence day reception in the presidential palace in Helsinki, Finland 1960 The Raak Design Group of Amsterdam was found in the 1950s and was very active and successful in the 1970s. Raak cooperated with a number of famous international designers and architects such as E.J. Jellis, Sergio Asti, Frank Ligtelijn, Bertrand Balas, Maija Liisa Komulainen and Nanny Still Raak has manufactured a wide range of lighting sources including wall- and standing lamps as well as hanging models Designs were often based on characteristic combinations of glass and various metals, which added a futuristic effect to the lamps.
