Italian 19th Century Mirror-Framed Mirror

About the Item

This mercury-glass mirror was made in 19th century Italy, and has a greyish tinge that endows it with mystery. Stylistically, it harks back to 17th century mirror-framed mirrors, which became fashionable once again in the 1930s. Then they were bought by society decorators Elsie de Wolfe and Syrie Maugham, and inspired the Paris antiquaire, interior, and furniture designer Serge Roche to design his own versions.
