19C French Empire Style Complete Bedroom Set - Outstanding

About the Item

PRESENTING AN ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING 19C French Empire Style Style Complete Bedroom Suite/Set. HIGHLY, IMPORTANT AND UNIQUE Empire Style Bedroom Suite or Set, in the Manner of Francois Linke (or similarly important Parisienne maker), from circa 1880. The Suite/Set is almost completely original, save the bed, which was originally twin size, but professionally commissioned to be customized and converted into a Euro King Size for modern practicality. The quality of the conversion matches the quality of the suite/set. All pieces have ormolu gilt mounted fittings; beautiful patina, beautiful parquetry; beautiful carrara marble tops, simply stunning! About 10 years ago, I saw the ‘identical twin’ of the Commode in an Antique Store on Central Park in New York, however it had a less desirable green marble top (IMHO), and they were looking for 30k USD for the Commode, on its OWN! This Suite/Set is SO GOOD that it is the main exhibit in our rear Showroom. Not marked but under the marble top of the commode there are 2 signatures in pencil (1) M. Le Youters (?) and (2) M. Daneels. You will NOT find another complete suite/set like this ANYWHERE! AS A BONUS: We have curated and sourced (recently) a Pair of Monumental French Empire Wall Sconces which are a ‘PERFECT’ match for this bedroom set! (See pics) These sconces are being sold separately BUT they really COMPLETE the entire bedroom! The Suite/Set includes: European King Size Bed (Headboard, Baseboard, side panels and central support bracket). 2 Matching Bedside Lockers with original white carrara marble tops. Matching Large Armoire/Wardrobe with original mirrors. Matching Wall/Dressing/Trumeau Mirror Matching Commode with original carrara marble top. Provenance: Bought privately by us from a reputable high-end dealer in Ireland over 20 years ago. Dimensions: Bed: 74 inches Wide, 81 inches Long and 12 inches high to mattress base Headboard : 51 inches tall Baseboard is 37 inches tall Wardrobe: 79 inches Wide, 89 inches Tall and 24 inches Deep Commode: 33 inches tall, 49 inches Wide and 23.5 inches Deep Night Stands: Each: 30.25 inches Tall, 16.25 inches Wide and 14.75 inches deep Wall Mirror: 76 inches Tall and 43.5 inches Wide Condition: Very good condition throughout. One chip to a corner of the armoire mirror but not serious. One crack to the top corner of the other side. Some crazing to the main mirror through age.

  • Monumental Pair of Late 19C French Empire Brass Wall Sconces
    Located in Dallas, TX
PRESENTING A EXCEPTIONAL, RARE and MONUMENTAL Pair of Late 19C French Empire Brass Wall Sconces. These matching pair of wall sconces or wall lights are LARGE! Made in France, circa 1890 of solid brass in the Empire Style. Each, is three and a half foot tall (41 inches) and each has 5 branches/lights, with frosted glass flame/torch shades. Unusually, the branches, lights and shades all point downwards, probably due to the Size of each sconce. They are flush mounted wall sconces/lights and weigh around 30 lbs each. At the top they have the Classic ribbon bow. As you move downwards, the have a large convex medallion/armorial medallion, with swags and laurel wreaths below The lower portion has a central tassel swag over a fluted architectural column which ends with an acorn/flower bulb style finial. Each light branch is decorated with a floral curved and scrolling leaf. The rear of the sconces has all the ‘oxidization’ one would expect from late 19th century pieces. Fully operational and in great condition. Good quality casting. Not marked, but were undoubtedly made by a top French maker! WE ‘DARE’ YOU TO FIND ANOTHER PAIR! A 'FANTASTIC' match for the Empire Bedroom Set in our Collection as seen in the pics. Provenance: From the Private Collection of a Former Dallas French Antique...

  • 19C French Gothic Revival Bench or Stool
    Located in Dallas, TX
PRESENTING A LOVELY 19C French Gothic Revival Bench/Stool or Organ Stool/Bench seat. Made in rural/provincial France (possibly Brittany) circa 1860-80 and in the Gothic Revival Style. We are of the opinion that the wood is ‘chestnut’ and not ‘oak’, as one would expect. The use of ‘chestnut’ makes this even RARER! Very ‘ecclesiastical’ in design and possibly would have been made for a Church, as the organ player’s stool/bench seat. Oblong/rectangular in shape. Unmistakably French, due to the base cross support design and construction, with circular central medallion (very ‘Breton’ in design) and wooden peg inserts for securing the base cross support on the outside of each side. This bench/stool is ‘nicer’ than most that have appeared on the market, due to it’s very good condition and the beautifully hand-carved decoration, beveled edges and raised arches on both sides. Also, the pair of carved gothic window-esque friezes on both sides, are a lovely touch! We are confident that this is a 19th Century piece, due to its natural aging, patina and when being re-upholstered it still had it’s original straw and horse (?) hair filling for the seat cushion. This Bench is part of an EXCEPTIONAL Private Dallas Collection. This Bench has IMPECCABLE PROVENANCE: It was purchased by an ancestor of the family (together with several other items also in the Collection), at a French Antique Auction held at the Club Room in the Stoneleigh Court (Hotel), Dallas on Wednesday the 2nd April 1930. (Now The Meridian Hotel). We have the Original Auction Catalog, which has remained with the Collection, since that Auction. (see photos). The Auction was titled: ” Works of Art and Furnishings of The Chateau de Turique (Nancy) and The Conde-Rougemont Home (Touraine). The cover of the Catalog also has a ‘seal’ of a Coat of Arms. The first page of the Catalog States: “Exhibition on Wednesday, April 2nd And Following Days From 10 A.M. to 10 P.M……EXHIBITION at CLUB ROOM, STONELIGH COURT, DALLAS, TEXAS”. The Second page gives a brief description of the Auction contents and states that ” This Exhibition will be presented by M. Fernand M. Adda of Paris France” This bench, we believe, was Lot No: 297 and was described in the Auction Catalog as: 297 – CARVED GOTHIC BENCH...
