Mid-20th Century Sterling and Abalone Cufflinks
About the Item
Vivid iridescent abalone set in sterling silver. Abstract Aztec emperor design by well known avant-garde artist Miguel Garcia Martinez. Martinez was an appretince to William Spratling, the father of the modern silver movement in Taxco, Mexico. Martinez was the chief designer for Rancho Alegre for thirty years. This Taxco Silversmith lived by the expression, "The things that we Mexicans make by hand is the creativity of the Mexican soul".
