Washing Machine, Metal, Etc. Skrat, Model P-7, Leonard Ryznar, circa 1945
About the Item
Washing machine in metal with electric motor which would drive a circular container (which moves the clothes, a "drum"), with a water intake in the lower part to the right and with several valves and levers, in addition to four legs of circular base to better support the ground and avoid, as far as possible, moving the machine when it was in operation. Leonard Ryznar (or Rýznar) was the founder of the company Skrat, which made several models similar to the present, very popular among those who could afford it in certain areas of Europe in the 20th century. As indicated on the device itself, it is the P-7 model, produced around the year 1945. Towards the beginning of the 19th century, several "machines" were developed to wash clothes, made up of a wooden box in which clothes were put and a manually operated system that moved it. Another variant were those that counted on a drum in which the clothes were pressed to drain it. Electric washing machines were not created until the early 20th century (in 1904 these appliances were already announced in the United States, apparently the first in Europe appeared later), becoming a mass device from the late 1940s-early 1950s, and in Western Europe developed into an everyday apparatus starting, circa 1960.

- Reliquary Altar. Wood, Glass, Metal, Etc. Spain, 17th CenturyLocated in Madrid, ESWall reliquary altar. Carved, polychrome and gilded wood, glass, metal, etc. Spanish school, 17th century. Reliquary altar made of carved, gilded and polychrome wood composed of a part that imitates a curtain of the type usually used to cover altars and other pieces when they are not used, topped by a winged angel head, and a composition organized around a tondo large central stem, from which arise a series of stems ending in scrolls. Some of these stems (eight in total) eventually form a kind of crown of leaves in the center of which are as many circular reliquaries of saints. In this mentioned central tondo there is an Agnus Dei (or Ágnusdei) made of wax. On the visible side there is an image of the Risen Christ (inspired by the one sculpted by Michelangelo Buonarroti around 1520 and found in Santa Maria sopra Minerva in Rome) accompanied by angels with symbols of the Passion and on a pedestal. This image is known to have been used on these pieces before 1598, again in 1619, and again in 1690. These relics (they are blessed by the Pope) get their name because they are printed on the front, above the book with the seven seals , the haloed Paschal Lamb carrying the banner of the Resurrection. In the text around the image, it seems to include a reference to Pope Pius V...Category

- Pair of Tall Eagle Lecterns, Bronze, Etc, 16th Century and LaterLocated in Madrid, ESPair of easels in the shape of an eagle. Bronze, iron. 16th-17th century. Rear supports. Pair of lecterns with tripod-shaped bases, claw-shaped legs with spheres, and a triangular part from which three baluster-shaped legs emerge, with elements in light tones that join at the top of this piece , leaving a vegetal form towards the lower area. The finials are two eagles on spheres, each looking to the side with its head tilted upwards, and situated with its wings half spread; the back is smooth, without the details of the feathers, eyes, beak and claws that do show in the front. The eagles could be from the Spanish school or from the Netherlands, dating from the 16th-17th centuries, while the bases are from the 20th century. It seems that, at least in Spain, the spread of tall lecterns...Category
