Iridescent Ammonite wall plate

About the Item

Ammonites are perhaps the most widely known fossil. These creatures lived in the seas between 240 - 65 million years ago, when they became extinct along with the dinosaurs. This large wall plaque displays the stunning natural iridescence of three Madagascan ammonites, a result of the fossilisation of the mother-of-pearl in the shell. The ammonites in this piece lived 180 million years ago.
