The posterior surface of the cover bears the applied inscription 'Souvenir of A Midsummer Night's Dream' The reverse of the case features an impressive embossed scene from a Midsummer Night's Dream Act IV scene I; this scene depicts the character Bottom with the ears of an ass being doted on by Titania.
