Important French Empire Early 19th Century Armchair

About the Item

An impressive Napoléonic Empire mahogany armchair, attributed to Jacob-Desmalter (1770-1841). With a pedimented top rail above a rectangular padded back and seat covered in red and gold silk, beautifully carved and gilded dolphin arm supports, the back and seat rail decorated with gilt bronze and carved gilt-wood ornaments, terminating in lion paw feet.
