About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this sublime pair of original George Smith Chelsea Chesterfield tufted armchairs These armchairs were bought and used for pretty display use only, they may have the odd tiny little mark here or there from transport and storage but they look to be in new condition to me. The fabric is a George Smith vintage affect floral, you can buy a similar fabric from Colefax & Fowler, the idea being it looks 160+ years old, English Victorian country house from new The frames are beech and oak, the seat platforms are traditional coil sprung as you would expect from one of the finest seating manufacturers of our time, they are each finished with a nicely stuffed down filled feather cushion These are very comfortable traditional Library reading armchairs, they fit well in any setting and look expensive and important from all angles. Each piece has the original George smith label under the cushion and the George Smith metal plaque in the oval to the base. The seat cushions are fully upholstered on both sides so should the worse happen and you stain one side, you can simply flip it over! Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
