Set of 2 Erik Jørgensen EJ900 Cobra Armchairs by Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen

About the Item

Trained as a saddler and upholsterer, Erik Jørgensen established his workshop in 1954 which grew out to become an international furniture brand and a family firm. In the 1980s he teamed up with designer duo Johannes Foersom and Peter Hiort-Lorenzen — today two of Scandinavia’s most renowned and successful contemporary furniture designers. First Launched in 1983, the EJ 900 Cobra chair is the counterpart of their iconic Pipeline sofa. The chair refers to early modernist forms of the Bauhaus period (Perriand), as well as mid-century Scandinavian designs (Nanna Ditzel), adding bold pop era concepts and unexpected fabrics. This lovely set of Cobra Chairs is in lovely condition, original upholstery with wear consistent with age and use. One of the chairs has a little more wear to one of the armrest. A rarely seen set and a true icon of Post-Modern design.
