10 x Dutch Industrial Design Prouve Style School Chairs S21 Compas Galvanitas

About the Item

Large batch of Original S21 stackable and switchable school chairs made by Galvanitas from the 60s - 70s in the style of the designs of Friso Kramer, Wim Rietveld and Jean Prouvé. We sell them in sets of 10 pieces. What makes these seats very special is the way you switch them. You just have to put one leg on the other and you're done. Beautiful warm cognac color seat and back with a more reddish brown color at the back made of Pagholz. The frame is coated in dark brown. Very nice for furnishing the catering industry but also a beautiful chair at the dining table at home. Dimensions: 52 cm wide, 55 cm deep, 80 cm back height and 45 cm seat height.

    For sale is a lovely set of four Galvanitas S16 Compass Chairs, arguably the most iconic school chair ever produced. The first to design with sheet metal was obviously Jean Prouve, but in The Netherlands the experiments with these classic compass leg subframes really exploded in the 1950s. Friso Kramer and Wim Rietveld designed the similar looking Result Chair for Ahrend in the same period, but the S16 turned out to be the most successful —featuring in most schools and canteens of office- and government buildings.
