Vintage Modern Drexel Club Chair & Ottoman with Casters Original Tan Chenille

About the Item

Handsome vintage modern Drexel club chair & ottoman with original tan chenille fabric with welting trim. Chair has front casters & the ottoman has four. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. They have been shampooed. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1980’s. Wrapped in Chenille, Full of Character, and oh so Cozy!! This is a wonderful tan chenille club chair and ottoman set by Drexel. This duo has a curve in the design that gives it a unique appearance and also makes it easy to fit them together. The back seat cushion almost looks like a big comfy seashell! They are wearing their original tan chenille fabric with welting trim around the frame of the chair and the base of the chair and ottoman, and the back and seat cushions are loose for convenient cleaning and fluffing and it also has loose arm covers. The chair has front casters, and the ottoman has four so it’s easy to relocate them from your sitting room into the living room or way down the hall into your bedroom. We LOVE this set and thought about how fun it would be to reupholster them with different, contrasting, or bright colors… it would really give it an awesome Post-Modern vibe. Fall into it. Curl up in it. Put your feet up. Relax. Drexel Furniture Company was founded in 1903 in Drexel, North Carolina by six businessmen for a total investment of $14,000.00. Sam Huffman, one of the initial founders, managed the enterprise until his death in 1935 when his son, Robert O. Huffman took the helm. By 1950 under the younger Huffman’s leadership Drexel had grown from a small factory to a leader in furniture manufacturing. They acquired other furniture companies along the way and by the late 1950s employed 2300 workers. The 1960s had them adding industrial and hospitality furniture to their lines. In 1968 they were purchased, and Drexel Enterprises became Drexel Heritage Furnishings, Inc. They continued to add to their styles and lines and were sold again and then in 1986 became part of Masco Corporation one of the country’s largest furniture manufacturers. They are now based in High Point, NC and operate ten factories in North Carolina and one in South Carolina and are one of the leading furniture manufacturers in the world. • Vintage Mid-Century Modern Club Lounge Chair by Flair Division for Bernhardt
    By Bernhardt
    Located in Topeka, KS
Handsome Mid-Century Modern club chair or lounge chair from the Flair Division of Bernhardt Furniture. It is in wonderful vintage condition and wearing its original light turquoise blue nubby fabric. It has been professionally cleaned but the fabric does have fading as you would expect and there are still stains but no holes or tears. It will be at its best recovered. It is priced accordingly. Please see photos, circa 1960s. I must tell you when we walked into the home where we obtained this chair and many of our other recent and soon to be offerings, I thought if I was ever going to faint this is the time. Of course, the house itself blew me away and then……the original furniture and art in all its glory. This chair is part of a three-piece living room suite by Bernhardt Furniture Flair Division and we are offering all three pieces this week. This club chair with its Lawson styling and loose cushions is really comfy; plus, it is held up off the floor with a fabulous base. The base or legs are comprised of a pair of walnut planks turned upright and running from front to back on each side of the chair. Simple yet dynamic. Bernhardt Furniture was established in 1889 by John Mathias Bernhardt and has been going strong for over 125 years. He spent many years out west in Oregon Territory. After a serious illness, traveling back home to Lenoir, North Carolina and working as a logger in the densely forested foothills of Grandfather Mountain...
