NIDO Modern Lounge Chair in Solid Maple & Cognac Leather by Estudio Persona
About the Item
The NIDO Chair was the result of playing with the juxtaposition of shapes. The egg-like shape of the leather upholstered wood seat nesting in the cross shaped solid wood frame gives it the name NIDO, meaning nest in Spanish. The strong lines of the base and the contrasting rounder shape of the soft leather seat bring style and stability without sacrificing comfort.
The NIDO base is made of solid Maple with clear coat finish. The seat is made of molded plywood, padded and upholstered in cognac leather.
Nido is customizable and can be made with different leather options and woods (white oak, walnut, red oak, ash) and different finishes, (white oak stained black, bleached and stained walnut, etc).
All pieces are handcrafted in Los Angeles, CA and are made to order.

Estudio Persona
Emiliana Gonzalez and Jessie Young are the duo that form Estudio Persona. Their collaborative process and Uruguayan roots bring a refreshing juxtaposition to their furniture and object design. The colorful and vibrant Hispanic cliché is turned on its head in favor of brutalist design evoking stark natural forms and sculptural lines. The absence of color - based on the melancholy of their native Uruguay - informs a distinctly neutral and minimal aesthetic language. Based out of their studio and showroom in Los Angeles, the two women work with natural materials in uniquely contrasting ways: leather meets bent wood forms, while steel and glass are manipulated to evoke softness. Estudio Persona is representative of a new, female, ever-evolving Hispanic minimalism, bringing enduring forms to life.
