Rare 'Ondine' Wingback Lounge Chair by Vladimir Kagan, c 1970, Signed

About the Item

An incredibly rare and highly sought-after Vladimir Kagan 'Ondine' wingback armchair, this early production example from circa 1970 and in its original fabric with animal motif. Signed with early Vladimir Kagan label. The original design was in 1958, described as 'Contoured Wing Arm Chair', which also came in an optional tri-symetric aluminum base. A similar example was kept in Kagan's personal collection. Ideal for collectors and investors of art and design, this extremely rare lounge chair features a sculptural solid Walnut base with flared arms and exaggerated wingback. All original, this Ondine wing back chair has been very well cared for and is ready for immediate use. This Vladimir Kagan 'Ondine' wingback arm chair would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Post-Modern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Consider using as a side chair, cafe or breakfast table chair, bedside chair, fireside chair, dressing or changing room chair, hallway chair, entryway or mudroom chair, nursing or reading chair, conference room chair, office chair, guest chair, lobby chair, lounge chair or occasional chair ideal in virtually any setting. • Vladimir Kagan 'Rock Star' Pair of Leather Rocking Chairs, c. 1997, Signed
    By American Leather, Vladimir Kagan
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
This pair of black leather rocking armchairs are by Vladimir Kagan for the Kagan Collection, by American Leather (previously LeatherTech). Designed in circa 1997 and called the 'Rock Star' lounge chair due to its rocking chair abilities cleverly disguised underneath with hidden wooden runners and signature rounded form, the curved arms and integrated seat cushion gives the look of a molded chair. What's a huge upside about these examples are that they have LeatherTech labels underneath instead of the common and newer American Leather labels. In the 1990s the company was originally founded as LeatherTech and brought huge innovations into the furniture and design industry. Later, in the early 2000's they changed their name to American Leather. Earlier examples made prior to the name change such as this pair are sought-after by collectors and generally carry greater worth. With Postmodern soaring in popularity, this club chair is just as relevant today as it was when it was first introduced. An excellent choice for designers and collectors alike, the chair and ottoman are signed underneath with The Kagan collection labels and leather swatch...
