Mahogany and Brass Tabletop Bookstand, from a Parish-Hadley Design Commission

About the Item

19th c., England, mahogany brass mounted rotating stand divided into four compartments, topped with a brass finial. A handsome addition to any desk, providing an interesting talking point and a fine way to store your upcoming reads. An opportunity to own a piece of design history coming as it does from a Parish-Hadley commission. Dimensions: 14"h x 11"squ Condition: Good, minor rubbing to finish, brass with burnished patina, foot and spindle appear to be replaced. Provenance: Furnishings from the Estate of Barbara Allen de Kwiatkowski, a Parish-Hadley Commission Literature: Model, socialite, and Andy Warhol protege, Barbara Allen de Kwiatkowski, made her name as a young editor at Interview Magazine and as a popular subject of the Society pages. Later marrying German industrialist and polo champion Henryk de Kwiatkowski, they built a Connecticut country estate and stables, designed by architect Alan Wanzenberg and decorated by legendary interior designers Sister Parish and Albert Hadley.
