Pushing the boundaries of materials, perceptions and possibilities, The Board:01 is the crowning jewel of the Knuckle on Bone collection. Jessie Nelson spent a decade as a professional musician, this experience is reflected throughout this piece. Although not limited to, the sideboard was designed with the serious audiophile in mind. The cantilevered concrete cascades from the top surface, intended for a turntable, to the heavy footprint, which stabilizes the unit from any vibrations that would cause the record to skip. Suspended in brass, the open cabinet is intentionally sized to fit hi-fidelity receivers and components. Behind the cabinet doors, adjustable shelves could hold a curated vinyl or wine collection. Made of black walnut, the cabinet doors butterfly open on both sides; each with a distinct face. Inspired by brutalist architecture, one face features an undulating pattern, where as the opposing side has a angular hypnotic rhythm. This intentional design free's the piece from being against a wall, thus allowing it to be appreciated and functional from any free standing position. Brusso Hardware precise brass knife hinges, shelf pins, and mortised ball catches are utilized throughout the piece.
Not only intended for the audiophile, with the sealed concrete and hand oiled walnut, the sideboard is also suitable for storage and display of any prized possessions. Limited to a run of 12, each dated and numbered on the brass insignia found inside cabinet.
Pieces are made to order, in true wabi sabi fashion, each pour is one of a kind and variations will vary. Concrete sealed against moisture and liquid damage. Always sustainably mindful, Jessie Nelson Studio sources salvaged walnut from condemned and felled trees in the New York tristate area.
