Vittorio Dassi Italian Rosewood Sideboard Liquor Cabinet, 1950s, Restored
About the Item
Add some Mid-Century Italian Modern elegance to your space with this fully restored Rosewood sideboard / liquor cabinet designed by Vittorio Dassi, originally completed in the 1950s and restored in 2021.
The subtly tapered design was crafted from Rosewood with distinct dark striped grain, restored with a gorgeous and luxurious French Polish. This piece comprises of flared spider legs, three (3) shelves, (2) slim drawers, brass hardware and a compact hutch which opens to reveal a curved mirrored storage compartment, perfect for storing a liquor stash and glassware. It also includes the original lightbulb to illuminate the inside of the hutch. The piece features habitual elements found in Mid Century Modern furniture by Italian designers of that era, such as high gloss lacquer, use of exotic wood species such as Rosewood, and application of curves, which were sometimes overly exaggerated and provide a unique personality and character to the cabinet, with the legs giving the hint that this piece was intentionally personified by the designer, Vittorio Dassi.
This stylish piece could be occupied as a credenza or a serve as a bar, ideal for keeping in reserve a cache of spirits for when the occasion calls for it. The slim proportions enable for this item to be positioned in a layout neatly and would be excellently situated in an Art Deco loft, Mid Century Modern bungalow, luxe open floor plan apartment, Hollywood Regency home or contemporary studio.

- Important Cerused Oak Sideboard by Vladimir Kagan for Kagan-Dreyfuss, SignedBy Kagan-Dreyfuss, Inc., Vladimir KaganLocated in Los Angeles, CAThis important piece of design history was not only designed by Vladimir Kagan and handcrafted by Kagan-Dreyfuss in circa 1949 New York... this was also owned by Kagan himself and kept throughout his entire adult life (see provenance notes below). Each of the two pieces (lower credenza and upper dry bar / hutch) are signed on the back with Kagan-Dreyfuss New York stamps. The expansive size provides exceptional storage and use options. Kagan-Dreyfuss (Vladimir Kagan's partnership with Hugo Dreyfuss from circa 1950-1960) stamped pieces are amongst the most sought after by collectors and investors of art and design. Furniture with Kagan-Dreyfuss stamps are extremely hard to find and demand exceptional value, and this credenza with hutch is double stamped (one on each piece). Featuring a cerused oak exterior, with tambour doors on the lower credenza, sculpted handles (which slide to reveal a keyhole, no key is present however can be rekeyed) on the upper hutch...Category
