Will Faber Acrylic on paper. Original signed and Framed. No certificate of authenticity available. Measurements: Frame: 40 x 55cm. Painting: 30 x 40cm. About the artist: Germany May 29, 1901, Saarbrücken - February 17, 1987, Barcelona, Spain painting, graphics biography Will Faber attended elementary school in Saarbrücken and then studied painting in Munich in 1924/1925. During this time he brought out a portfolio of 10 lithographs «The Scream». In 1926 he moved to Berlin, where he got to know and appreciate Käthe Kollwitz and Willi Jäckel and married Emma Käser in 1927. In 1932 he emigrated to Barcelona. In 1934, fleeing the Spanish Civil War and Hitler's Germany, Will Faber moved to Ibiza, where he mostly lived until his death. During his stay in Berlin and Chemnitz, Will Faber oriented himself strongly towards Expressionism. With his move to Barcelona in 1932, a new chapter in his painting began. Like the Cubists, Futurists and Dadaists, he used individual letters that were woven into the pictures. He called this his «cosmic-serious-playful alphabet». However, he abandoned the stencil-like use of individual letters, they became part of all the calligraphic and painterly details that combined to form a whole. The cosmos, the ordered universe, the fruit of chaos, which was blasted, torn and dismembered from within and without, were the incentive for Will Faber to recreate images and to put the fragments of the cosmos back together from A to Z. In 1910, as a boy, he admired Comet Halley. The fascination of the universe should never let him go. He successfully participated in many exhibitions at home and abroad, became famous in the USA and was honored with prizes and awards.
