About the Item
2 impressive Vintage Vietri wall hanging ceramic or stoneware sea creatures, a huge jelly fish and a starfish designed and signed by Ceramiche Artistiche Solimene, CAS, manufactured circa 1950 In Vietri Sul mare by Solimene.
These wall hanging ceramics are quite large, (only the dimensions of the jellyfish are given in the post), they look really good and fun wether hanging on a wall or just resting on a coffee table.
jelly fish approximately 54cm long x 36cm wide x 12cm thick (21" x 14" x 5")
starfish approximately 50cm diameter x 12cm thick (20" x 5")
the Starfish has a ceramic recess for hanging whist the jellyfish will need a metal string to be attached. they could also be used resting on a flat surface ...
It is possible that 1 or 2 ends of tentacles on the jellyfish were chipped or restored in the past but I cannot be sure because the pieces are roughly finished, in the style of Gambone and other ceramists of the period.
