Large, Painted Neoclassical Style Panel from Italy

About the Item

Hand-painted in Italy, this large, wooden wall panel features white and gray Neoclassical motifs over a black background. The images are surrounded by a thin white rectangular border with canted corners. A cavetto molding along the edge of the panel has been painted gold, with thin layers of white molding behind the cornice. The amazing display has a roughly symmetrical orientation of images, with a few minor variances. A sprawling rinceaux stretches across the panel, dotted with various mythological entities. A pair of centaurs can be seen grabbing the hoof of two mythical creatures. There are also several cherubs, mascarons, and griffins mixed among rinceaux, curled leaves, cornucopias, and geometric elements. Our large painted Neoclassical style panel would be a focal point of any wall.
