Sumptuous Cascading 1930s Floral Watercolor

About the Item

Sumptuous cascading Art Deco Era floral watercolor. Brilliant blue background with an amazing floral arrangement displayed in a Art Deco period handled vase. Signed in pencil, M. Libbey lower right corner. There are also initials under the name. The medium is watercolor on paper. There are several auction listed artists by the name, M. Libby. Possibly when researching the 'E' has been dropped from the name at some point. The framing treatment consists of a simple gilt wood molding and the work is under glass. The backing material is old cardboard and is not acid free or archival. Re-framing is suggested. Good overall condition. Some minor staining and foxing around the edge of the paper. No visible rips, tears or restorations. The piece has not been viewed out of the frame. Bares the frames label on the reverse, The frame is structurally sound and it has minor wear, losses, bumps and bruises commensurate with age. The colors are still very vibrant and concentrated, but there is some slight fade due to age. Approximate overall dimensions with frame are 23.25" wide x 29.75" high. The sight dimensions of the piece are approximately 22" wide x 23" high.
