Framed Editioned Photograph Homage to Cavafy Series by Duane Michals

About the Item

An editioned gelatin silver print by American photographer Duane Michals (1932-). "Two friends are playing cards. One is cheating" from Homage to Cavafy Series, published in 1978. Gelatin silver print, hand-written titled on the lower margin. Signed and numbered 14/25 in ink on the bottom of the sheet. 3 1/2 x 5" for the image size. Displayed in an original silver leaf frame. Michals created ten photographs in honor of Greek gay poet Constantine Cavafy (1863-1933) and his work. As with the poems, these images vary between classical homoeroticism and allegorical tableaux. Cavafy’s poems and Michals’ images are presented on alternating pages.

After an internship at Rolling Stone Magazine and then formally starting her career as the assistant to the Fashion Director at Seventeen Magazine, Bonnie moved through the ranks at Glamour Magazine and MTV.
