17th Century French Aubusson Verdure Tapestry
About the Item
A French Aubusson verdure landscape tapestry from the 17th century, featuring a paradisiacal vision of a remote cottage with a beautiful waterfall placed within a lush lakeside setting, replete with various trees, flowers, and exotic birds, and with a villagescape in the distance. Enclosed by a scrolling border of fruiting and flowering, with the weaver, I. Beby’s signature, “I.BEBY.M.R.D.AUBUSSON” in the lower right selvage. Wool with silk inlay. Measures: 9’5” H x 13’10” W.
Hanging: The tapestry comes ready for hanging, with linen backing and a strip of hook and loop tape at the top end, which can be connected to the opposite side of the supplied hook and loop tape, which could be tacked to your wall. For those who prefer the use of a tapestry rod, we can add the appropriate size loops to accommodate your needs.
