This one of a kind marvel is a one of one in existence. Alexandrite at sizes greater 1 carat are rarely found across all geographic sources to begin with, but 1 carat stones from Brazil are even rarer. This stone is a true rarity and exhibits a strong color change greenish blue to reddish purple. The diminishing supply of Brazilian alexandrite and marvelous size and cut this stone exhibits make it an extremely scarce and alluring gem that will likely not be sourced again.
An alexandrite is prized for its natural ability to shift colors from a vibrant bluish-green under daylight to an alluring reddish-purple under incandescent light. Originally known as 'Emerald by day and Ruby by Night', the Russian source depleted centuries ago, new sources have been discovered throughout the world yet none rival the quality coming out of Brazil. Brazilian quality stones are known for their strong color-change ability and their clarity; they are true marvels to gem connoisseurs and jewelry fanatics alike.
Nestled at the heart of this iconic gold coin inspired design is an exquisite pear shaped alexandrite set within a thin bezel frame. We've purposefully positioned the gem to be slightly offset in order to add a unique appeal to an otherwise classic and timeless fine jewelry staple. The plain gold portion features a brushed finish that is enhanced by a halo of twinkling petite diamonds sparkling beautifully as the necklace sways with each subtle movement. We love how it looks styled with an open collar shirt as it suspends from the neckline by a 24" paperclip chain.
