George III John King London Sterling Silver Hot Milk Jug

About the Item

George III era sterling silver hot milk jug by Jon King of London, England, circa 1776. Beautiful and elegant oval baluster form on a domed foot featuring a hinged lid with finial lid topper, scroll design black wood handle and beaded edge beak style spout. The body of the teapot is adorned in repousse floral and scroll designs. Hallmark dates this piece to 1776. Measures approx 8 3/4" tall to top of finial topper, 6" wide from tip of spout to end of the handle, 3" diameter base, 2 3/4" wide opening. Weighs approx 446.3g, 287.0dwt Fully hallmarked on bottom with lion passant (indicated sterling silver) IK (makers mark for John King) a (date mark for 1776) leopard (London city mark). Also marked with the lion and leopard head under the lid. Very nice antique condition, some tarnish and discoloration, light surface scratches and small dents around the body. Inside is in excellent condition. Overall beautiful for an almost 250 year old piece. Will be shipped US Priority Mail with insurance.
