About

A fantastic luxurious weight silk moss crepe gown from the forties that is in fantastic condition and surprisingly modern. To be honest, if not for the period details one would almost think this to be an Ossie Clark. He referenced the 40s in his pieces and you can see that reference point in this one in particular very heavily! Yards of bias cut moss crepe forms the skirt which flares out slightly as it heads towards the bottom hem. A panel is set across the waist to accent the midriff. The sleeves are set slightly high and capped and the entire front is beaded with glass beading in vibrant turquoise and copper hues ones. The beading follows the very low cut key hole slit which I think might have been meant to wear to the back but works equally well worn to the front as shown. You can really wear it either! Excellent condition all beads intact and the fabric is strong!

Bust: 20" flat across the back from side seam to side seam

The dress is unlined and closes with a side painted metal zipper. It should be dry cleaned when cleaned again in the future.
