1940s Crochet Swing Dress

Buyer Protection Guaranteed

Truly one of the more extraordinary pieces I have ever seen. It appears to never have been worn so is pristine - the threading used is still as white as the day it was made and the colors used to accent the edges and details are as true as the when this was lovingly & meticulously hand made, stitch by stitch! The dress is fine crochet work - on par with the best of the earlier Irish pieces you see. The pictures do not come close to doing justice the sheer exuberance that this piece emits! The sheer volume of crochet work in astounding and when you realize that each sleeve and the skirt where done as full circles you are in awe of the work that went into this piece. All the edges are done in a row of either two shades of pink or a salmon and and pink depending on where you look. little clusters of stylized flowers or fruit clusters hang from each sleeve ad around the hem (and there is actually two layers to each of those sleeves!!). Even the buttons that do up the back are each encased in its own little crochet work. Its museum quality and a masterpiece.
