A Rare Ottoman Banyan in Embroidered Silk - Early 19th century

About the Item

Late 18th or early 19th century Ottoman Empire Astonishing and very early banyan, kaftan or ottoman coat dating from the late eighteenth century. Raw silk background with woven check (Indian origin), Very finely embroidered wheels / suns with indigo silk thread, red Adrianople and yellow; sowing of small daisies. The heart of the wheels is embroidered with silver metallic flat wire. Collar and handles applied embroidered braids with red cotton thread and gold thread, two buttons bell attached. Madder red cotton lining, and indigo dyed satin trim. Flared kaftan cut, yoke under the armpits and side slits at the bottom. Excellent condition and color. Dimensions : small size. Back height 97 cm, front height 92 cm, shoulders 38 cm, sleeves 51 cm, size 82 cm There is no recent or contemporary addition... Everything is original... the fabric seems older than the cut that is before 1850. Rare and original piece! Only visible alterations, the interior indigo satin border has some rare weaknesses... embroidery silver flat threads have some rare gaps also. The rest is clean without a hitch and therefore in excellent antique condition.
