This is a delicate and lovely black net jacket from the late Edwardian period, likely dating from around 1905-1915. The high waistline was very popular during this period, as was the layering of sheer garments and lace. This particular piece is an elegant example of the sort of garment which might be worn over a dinner or evening dress while out of doors in the warmer months. The netting is completely sheer except at the upward-tilted waistline, with flared sleeves, a wide collar, and a shin-length hem. It could be easily adopted into a modern wardrobe, and will add a touch of Edwardian elegance to any outfit.
