A Jacques Doucet French Couture Evening Taffeta Silk Mantle, Circa 1900
About the Item
Circa 1890/1900
Paris
Evening mantle from the famous designer Jacques Doucet who had as assistant Paul Poiret and Madeleine Vionnet. Changing taffeta silk in blue navy, green and purple. Application of plush black velvet laces forming arabesques and spirals. Wide batwing sleeves and lining pink fuchsia silk crepe embellished with older lace. Large work pleated in the back ended with long fringes of plush velvet. Front fastening with hooks hidden beneath two rosettes in black ribbon. Labelled Doucet Paris. Excellent condition.
