About the Item

Amazing French Art Deco Silk Lame Chinoiserie Opera Coat. The extraordinary fabric woven with gold and silver metallic lame thread with cornflower blue floss on a cherry red ground. Patterned with pagodas, reeds growing from a shimmering pond and cultivated plum trees. Wrap style with a loop and button closure (button missing but we can find one), can also be worn with a fabric tie belt. Lined in a pale yellow silk pongee. This fabric was also utilized by Paul Poiret, in his later designs in the 1920s. Very Good Condition, in large wearable size. 1920's France.
