Kansai Yammamoto Faux Fur Coat with Gold Swallows

About

This is an incredible coat by Japanese designer Yamamoto Kansai. The base of the coat is a deep black pile, within which gold songbirds have been embroidered. Each swooping bird carries a gold beaded tassel in its beak. All the edges of the coat are piped in gold, keeping the black pile visually contained. The blanket shape is boxy and cozy, yet the placement of the birds echoes the shape of the body beneath, especially in the back, and keeps the form from disappearing. The gold embroidery is striking against the black, and the traditional bird motif evokes hope, luck, freedom, and life in many different cultures. This is a luxurious and truly beautiful coat, and is the perfect statement piece for this winter. Lined in a thick and soft satin you'll be sure to feel amazing in this piece.
