Squared Indian Embroidered Kashmir Shawl Circa 1870

About

Circa 1870 India Indian kashmir shawl embroidered with silk called Amli shawl and dating from the second half of the nineteenth century. Background in very fine very silky pashmina densely embroidered in the corners and a star in the center. Original espoliné and fringed borders. Very strong polychromy preserved from the sun. Average condition of preservation and very bright colors. Dimensions: 171 x 169 cm and 3 cm fringes Embroidered Amli shawls are supposed to imitatethe Indian Kani weave shawls. Here the embroidered edges and center are designed without visual break, thanks to the colors and the fineness of the sticht points. Two light halos, a stain, about twenty moth holes. However bright colors, very solid fabric and overall clean ... These small defects are passed on the price.
