1950's Juli Lynne Charlot Applique Rose-Garden Velvet Dress Set
Breathtaking rose-garden applique velvet dress set from the iconic California couturier Juli Lynne Charlot. Juli Lynne Charlot was an actress turned designer. In 1947, she designed a felt circle-skirt which she decorated with appliquéd Christmas trees. The skirt was such a success that she continued to design similar skirts with embroidered and appliquéd motifs. According to many sources, Charlot was the originator of the poodle skirt! One thing that makes Juli Lynne Charlot garments special is that they told a story. Juli Lynne wanted her clothing to be conversation starters. She made sure that the stores buying her clothes knew the stories behind the pieces so that they could tell them to the customers. I love the sweetheart strapless bustier top which is "oh so" flattering. The matching skirt has the nipped high-waist and full-circle swing. The magenta-pink roses on ivory velvet will brighten up any day. True 1950's elegance at its best!
