About

For over forty years Valentino has been one of the most prominent names in fashion, creating some of the world's most elegant and classic designs. It was Valentino's desire to design clothes that would celebrate the female form and accentuate a woman's sensuality. "I don't think any man in the world wants to go out with a woman dressed like a boy," he once said. This stunning turquoise blue shirtdress from his 1974 spring/summer collection is a perfect example of his vision. The dress is fashioned from rich double layered silk-chiffon. He then uses an ingenious pleating technique that gives the garment so much depth and texture. The bodice has a chic wide collar with button-down design. I love the semi-sheer sleeves with dramatic over-sized satin cuffs. The skirt nips in at the waist for an ultra-flattering swing skirt silhouette. Valentino has dressed some of the world's most glamorous people, including Princess Margaret, Julia Roberts and Claudia Schiffer. I totally see this rare show-stopper lighting up any event!
