Circa 1940's Claire McCardell monastic style dress. This was the first successful silhouette designed by McCardell and is now rare and hard to find. Dress is a waistless, dartless, and tent style bias cut garment. Very functional and can be worn with or without belt. McCardell's style has remained an inspiration for many designers of contemporary fashion and the monastic style dress is an historically significant example of a timeless classic.

Jumper monastic wool tweed dress designed to be worn over a sweater or blouse. Fashioned of a rich brown tweed soft bias cut wool. Features an narrow aerodynamic collar with 5-button down placket into a lightly pleated bust line. Concealed side pockets. Unlined. **Belt is not original to the dress and is not included.
