Vintage Escada Dress in a Yellow Floral Silk Print by Margaretha Ley Size 8/10
About the Item
This is such a pretty Escada vintage dress, in a rich yellow silk print with beautiful tropical flowers in shades of pink, fuchsia, blue, orange and purple. The dress has cap sleeves, a side zipper with buttons above, and buttons up the back.
We love the 1940's styling of this dress, which was so popular in the 1980's (but we think timeless), with an attached sash that ties at the hips. This dress was designed by Margaretha Ley in the 1980's and was made in West Germany and labeled a European size 40. We estimate it to fit a modern day US size M..
Escada was started by Margaretha Ley and her husband, Wolfgang in 1979. The Ley's named their company Escada, (which means staircase in Portuguese) after a racehorse, believing it would be good luck for their brand. Margaretha died in 1992.
