1930's Hattie Carnegie Couture Sapphire-Blue Silk Satin Backless Bias-Cut Gown

About

Breathtaking Hattie Carnegie Couture sculpted silk-satin gown dating back to the mid 1930's. The name Hattie Carnegie is very often associated with elegance and high fashion. Carnegie’s fashion philosophy is summed up as "the woman should wear the clothes, not the clothes wear the woman." Her clothes were particularly popular in California, and many movie stars were known to wear Carnegie’s creations. This helped spread her reputation and establish her as a taste-maker across the country. The gorgeous sapphire blue color used for this bias-cut beauty has a timeless allure that I find irresistible. The bodice has a seductive thin strap low-cut plunge. The backless detailed construction really sets this apart from other gowns during this era. The piece work to create the skirting in particular is quite extraordinary. This figure flattering garment accentuates the bust, skims the hip and flares out in classic "Old Hollywood" style. It is impeccably seamed and on the level of modern day couture. Measurements (varies due to bias-cut) Bust:32-35 inches Waist:26-29 inches Hips:up to 36 inches Total Length:60 inches This Hattie Carnegie designer dress is in excellent condition with no stains, holes or repairs. Slips on with no additional closures. The workmanship is immaculate and all hand-finished. Only sign of wear is faint discolor by the underarms. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
