1930's Hattie Carnegie Pleated Black Chiffon & Lace Puff Sleeve Bias-Cut Dress
Breathtaking Hattie Carnegie Couture black semi-sheer dress dating back to her 1938 partership with Swanson. The name Hattie Carnegie is very often associated with elegance and high fashion. Carnegie’s fashion philosophy is summed up as "the woman should wear the clothes, not the clothes wear the woman." Her clothes were particularly popular in California, and many movie stars were known to wear Carnegie’s creations. This helped spread her reputation and establish her as a taste-maker across the country. The gorgeous lace trimmed pleated silk-chiffon fabric used for this bias-cut beauty has a timeless allure that I find irresistible. The bodice has a unique illusion panel and dramatic puff-sleeves. The elegant bow-trimmed blousy overlay falls into a sculpted lace panel design. The piece work to create the skirting in particular is quite extraordinary. This figure flattering garment accentuates the bust, skims the hip and flares out in classic "Old Hollywood" style. It is impeccably seamed and on the level of modern day couture. Measurements Bust:33-34 inches Waist:28 inches Hips:up to 36 inches Total Length:56 inches This Hattie Carnegie for Swanson dress is in excellent condition with no stains, holes or repairs. Perfectly working original side metal-zipper. The workmanship is immaculate and all hand-finished. Only sign of wear is a some minor tearing to the lace edging. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
