About

Breathtaking 1950's black velvet & ivory-white satin sculpted hourglass gown by the famous Beverly Hills designer, Howard Shoup. Howard was an American costume designer who received five Academy Award nominations throughout his lifetime. He designed his own collections and modified each garment to assure his clients that their dresses would be one‐of‐a‐kind. This captivating ensemble is not only timeless but an extremely rare find. The bodice is an alluring low-cut plunge shelf-bust strapless with hand-stitched applique cording. The gown even still has the optional shawl-wrap for when the night cools down. The skirting is unbelievable; a flattering hourglass nipped-waist met by dramatic asymmetric draping! I love the complex styling which totally channels the great work of Christian Dior. I totally imagine this show-stopper gliding down the red carpet!

This Howard Shoup designer couture gown is in excellent condition with no rips or holes. The inside is fully boned and all hand-finished. Perfectly working back metal-zipper. Only sign of age is some minor underarm wear and two faint spots on the skirt which get loss in the fullness. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value!
