About

Stunning Jeanne Lanvin Castillo pink silk-chiffon & gray floral-lace party dress dating back to 1956. Castillo was invited by Jeanne Lanvin's daughter to design for her mother's firm in Paris, with hopes of relaunching the firm's name. Jeanne Lanvin, the founder of the house, had died in 1946 and the salon needed someone to maintain it's traditions. From 1950 to 1962 the House of Lanvin-Castillo was known for elegant clothes, slender lines and rich fabrics. I love the unique baby-pink & pale-grey color pallet used on this elegant garment. The bodice is a flattering low-cut plunge sculpted shelf-bust. The wide cummerbund is a beautiful ruched ribbon-weave technique which is insanely hard to do. The nipped-waist followed by a scalloped middle-insert skirt flatters the figure and turns any woman into a starlet. You do not easily find this level of workmanship on garments today.
