About

Pierre Balmain worked under Robert Pigiuet, Molyneux, and Lucian Lelong, where he worked closely with Christian Dior. In 1945 is finally opened his own couture house. Balmain created a very sculptural quality which was always allied with a ladylike essence. His glamorous garments were worn by the likes of Bridget Bardot, Katherine Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich. Balmain's garments have a body and a shape of their own. This breathtaking lace and net-tulle party dress is a perfect example of his genius. The fabric is pure heaven and the construction is couture-level as one would expect from Pierre Balmain. The color is an ethereal mauve-pink with a gorgeous dove-grey undertone. The bodice is a low-cut plunge sweetheart illusion with flattering cap-sleeves. I adore the hourglass nipped-waist met by a sculpted side velvet bow full swing-skirt! A timeless treasure in a rare larger size!
