1960s French Couture Cream Guipure Floral Lace Midi Dress
About the Item
This 1960s floral lace midi dress was couture-made in France and was very likely a wedding dress circa 1966-1968. The fabrics used are the very finest available and it is tailored from the palest cream-hued cotton silk blend, and lined throughout in silk for a comfortable, luxurious wear. The top layer is sculpted from an incredibly detailed guipure lace in an off-white shade. The lace features an array of 3-D sculptural flowers, including daisies, roses, calla lilies and chrysanthemums, in an all over design. The silhouette is typical of the late 1960s era with its long slim sleeves, below-knee cut and cocooning body. The dress fastens at the back of the neck with a hidden tonal zip and hook-and-eye clasp.
The dress is in bordering on excellent vintage condition and is clean and ready to wear. There are a few dots here and there of very faint age-related marks on the lace work but unless you are looking closely with the dress in hand, they can't be seen when worn. There are no composition or size labels with the dress being couture made, and the fabric has no stretch. A good fit for around a UK 10-12, US 6-8.
