About

Bob Mackie began his career as a Hollywood costuming sketch artist, working for both Edith Head and Jean Louis. While working with designer Ray Aghayan, Mackie soon began creating evening clothing for the divas who would make him a household name- most notably Carol Burnett, Diana Ross and Cher. Bob Mackie/Ray Aghayan pieces are rare, as they were only made for a few years in the late 1970's. This breathtaking "little black dress" is a perfect example of their genius. The entire garment is fashioned from Fortuny-like pleating in silk-chiffon. The flattering bodice is a duel spaghetti-strap design with an hourglass waist-tie. I love the flirty ostrich feathers surrounding the entire hemline. Best part of all is this little number has never been worn and with original tags still attached!
