About

Geoffrey Beene made strong impressions with his courteous manner as well as his highly original style. He was a champion of minimalist design. His body-contoured dresses were marvels of cut and proportion. Beene’s view of style was more about function than fad. He also cautioned against getting too concerned with the latest trends. His clothes were structured but never rigid and rely on the craftsmanship of careful detail. This black & ivory sculpted fully-lined silk dress is a beautiful example of his genius. I adore the 3-D quilted embroidery and "easy-to-wear" silhouette. It is cut with a gathered skirt that slightly flares out and moves wonderfully. My favorite part is the over-sized mod zippers which is a wonderful nod to space-age design. This is the type of garment you will reach for over and over. A real treasure and one of the best constructed dresses I have seen.
