1970s Pauline Trigère Red Print Strapless Dress & Cape Set

About the Item

Pauline Trigère a prominent figure in putting American designers on the map. Like many of the acclaimed French couturiers, she was an expert at tailoring and had an eye for interesting volumes. However true-to-form of the American aesthetic, Trigere designs are known for their relative simplicity and elegance through ease. This gorgeous 1970s dress and cape set is a fine example of Trigere’s work. Done in an ombre red silk of exceptional quality with couture hand-finished details throughout, this set exudes a timeless sophistication. The ombre silk ranges from stripes of magenta to deep scarlet and features a dainty pattern of small blue and cream flowers and fleur de lis. The dress begins with a strapless ruched bodice that frames the decolletage while a high neck cape embellished with rhinestones creates an sheer overlay of long angel sleeves. Measurements: Size estimate: SMALL DRESS: Bust: 32-34 inches Waist and hips: Full Length: 45 inches from top of bust CAPE: Length: 50 inches The skirt falls in small pleats from the empire waistline to a flattering midi length at the ankles, giving the dress a nice sense of movement. A thigh-high slit at the center front of the skirt adds a welcome risque note while the cape adds a layer of drama and an airy fullness to the otherwise columnar silhouette of the dress. A beautiful addition to the discerning fashion lover’s wardrobe, this incredible dress and cape set is the perfect choice for a wedding, gala, or special occasion and can easily be styled with statement heels and accessories. This numbered Pauline Trigère set is fully lined in silk and closes with a concealed zip at the back of the dress. In excellent condition save for a minor black mark on the lining at the bust that is not visible when worn, it has been professionally eco-dry cleaned and pressed. High-quality pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself. - Follow us on Instagram @BASHAGOLD

Vintage Givenchy Couture Magenta Silk Chevron Sleeveless Ruffle Bow Dress
By Givenchy
Located in Boca Raton, FL
Best known for his high-end, feminine silhouettes, French haute couture designer Hubert de Givenchy rose to international acclaim during the 1960s by creating signature looks for actress Audrey Hepburn. Maintaining a classic romantic elegance to his designs, Givenchy began experimenting with bolder colors and pattern options around the 1980s. Done in a vibrant magenta silk organza, this couture dress was custom made at the Givenchy atelier in Paris. The dress features an incredible cascade of ruffles at each shoulder and a subtle chevron pattern done in alternating rows of smooth silk and basket woven silk. The woven silk provides contrast and texture while the chevron pattern itself creates a pleasing rhythm throughout. The bodice begins with a flattering bateau neckline framed by short sleeves comprised of layers of wide, undulating ruffles. The ruffles are adorned at each shoulder with a large knotted bow for extra flair and femininity that flows seamlessly with the rest of the fabric. The bows are set slightly behind the high front ruffle on each shoulder, making them easy to miss at first glance, but delightful when seen from the side profile or back of the dress. The basket woven silk provides a sheer element to the ruffles that is further enhanced by the lower cut bodice at the back of the dress. Size estimate: Small/Medium Bust: 32 inches Waist: 30 inches Hips: 37 inches Length: 55 inches The bodice is finished with princess seams that reach from the bust to hip, complimenting the subtle A-line silhouette of this dress. The skirt falls to a maxi-length just above the ankles in a straight hem that is semi-formal and perfect for showcasing a beautiful pair of heels. Sophisticated and feminine, this dress is the perfect choice for a summer wedding, gala, or special occasion. This custom-couture Givenchy...

Dolce & Gabbana Runway Ad Campaign Red Mini Dress Ruched Arm Bands, 2003
By Dolce & Gabbana
Located in Boca Raton, FL
Red, baring and slinky, this Dolce & Gabbana minidress is designed to command attention. When it debuted in the spring/summer 2003 runway show on supermodel Gisele Bündchen, it led Vogue’s Sarah Mower to write, “power-womanhood is not extinct on planet Fashion.” And when Steven Meisel focused his lens on it for the season’s ad campaign, it became iconic—and highly collectible. Cut from a luxurious stretch viscose jersey, this LRD is crafted to drape beautifully on the body and accentuate its every move. Rather than hug every curve, it has an easy blouson top (that is even more full at the back) to leave more to the imagination and to balance the revealing deep V at its sides and the short skirt. Coordinating spaghetti straps and drawstrings funneled through a middle panel of the dress allow the wear to customize the fit and length. Wear the piece without or with the stunning ruched arm bands...
