1988 Romeo Gigli black tulle gown with asymmetrical shoulder

Extremely rare black tulle evening gown designed by Romeo Gigli for his Fall/Winter 1988 collection. The dress features a striking asymmetrical neckline with a single sheer sleeve balanced against a strapless opposite side, creating a dramatic silhouette. The bodice is masterfully ruched in layers of delicate black tulle, fitted closely through the torso, and finished with a softly ruffled edge at the neckline. Long strips of tulle extend from the dress, designed to be wrapped and tied around the bodice, allowing for versatile styling and added texture. The skirt portion combines draped satin with cascading sheer tulle overlays, adding both volume and transparency. Gathered detailing at the hips gives way to irregular lengths of tulle that trail into a fluid, ethereal hemline with a subtle train.
